Curious Rose is Laura; an artist and photographer who connects with people and brands to create pictures to tell stories. Laura is thoughtful, relaxed and commercially aware in her approach. She has been working as a professional photographer since 2015 and suspects that she became an artist somewhere around birth.
Her meandering life so far has led her many places all over the world, creating pictures for individuals, couples, families, brands large and small, all with an open-mind and a creative soul.
Laura has a deep interest in people and connection is what sparked her career and portraiture is at the heart of her artistic practice - it stems from a curiosity of psychology, of relationships, of love and marriage and children, feminism, self-expression and identity. A curiosity of life.
Laura takes a holistic approach to the way she works with her clients and subjects, and integrates her knowledge of meditation, psychology, movement, art, brand and advertising to facilitate experiences that bring out the bold and interesting parts of her subjects.
Laura currently resides not far from the Malvern hills, in a lusciously pink house with her husband Jim and their beautiful,blended family of three children. She creates pictures for brands, individuals and families with an authentic, beautiful and humorous tone.
1987 - Laura suspects she was an artist some time around birth. She was born in the rural area of Worcestershire in a group of villages called The Lenches.
1992 - Laura develops her use of painting, sewing and photography to process the world around her.
1996 - Laura wins an award for blowing especially great bubbles when failing to swim 10m unassisted.
2005 - 2008 - Laura studies Art at Leeds University, Contemporary Art Practice - Her dissertation was titled The relationship between Arts & Advertising with a focus of the Sound British Artists and she continues to be fascinated with the power that brand & advertising imagery can have to educate and create positive change.
2008 - 2013 - Laura takes roles for well-known fashion brands, most significantly for Marks and Spencers, Laura also serves in a range of top notch hospitality establishments, travelling as far as Canada, London, Australia, The Cotswolds. Generally trying to work out what the hell it is she’s supposed to do with these skills.
2013 - Laura called what she was exploring Curious Rose an ever evolving exploration of how she wants to use her artistic skill and knowledge to support the people that choose to work with her.
2021 August - Married Jim and officially became a Step-Mum of 2, then gave birth to another little lady later that year. They renovated an old pink Victorian home, which remains a source of inspiration for creative hosting and living.
Currently - Laura continues to work with value led brands, local and not, she shoots weddings and works with families.
Portraiture is at the heart of what she does.
Personal work
The Spirit of Malvern Spirit in collaboration with the Collective Creative Connects in her homeland of The Malvern Hills. She is also currently working on Ceremony of Self in Birmingham which is an interdisciplinary art project exploring what it means to be female in the face of change.
